To promote a culture of discipline among Filipinos, the Police Regional Office 3 (Central Luzon) officially launched on Monday the “Disiplina Muna” national advocacy program.

The campaign, a brainchild of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), aims to encourage all local government units (LGUs) to empower their respective communities in terms of participation.

Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, together with other PRO-3 officials and personnel, led the launching through an oath-taking ceremony in this camp, marking the beginning of their roles as frontrunners in the campaign.

Ener Cambronero, chief of the Local Government-Capability Development Division (LG-CDD), presented the pillars of the Disiplina Muna campaign, namely road clearing, disaster preparedness and resilience, anti-smoking, ease of doing business, liquor ban, tourist spot cleanup and functionality of the barangay anti-drug abuse council.

To promote discipline, he said citizens should help maintain roads that have been cleared of obstructions, cooperate in preparedness measures during calamities, follow anti-smoking rules, cooperate in transparent and prompt business transactions, follow regulation on liquor, help maintain cleanliness of tourist spots, and abide by the law, observe rules and regulations and report a crime.

“Nagsusumamo kami. Hindi ito kaya ng gobyerno lamang. Kailangan ay nandyan ang kabataan at ang private sector. Kailangan ay sama-sama tayo isulong at ibalik muli ang kultura ng disiplina sa atin (We appeal to you. This cannot be done by government alone. There is a need for the youth and the private sector. We must promote and restore together the culture of discipline among us),” Cambronero said

Part of the activity was the signing of a pledge of commitment of the participants.

Sermonia encouraged the police in the region to give their full support to the advocacy.

“We aim to promote the culture of discipline within our organization and empower our communities in terms of participation and in doing so, we must first instill in ourselves the true essence of discipline,” he said. (PNA)
