2GO Group Inc., the largest integrated supply chain enterprise, is providing critical services in strong support of the local economy, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in these pandemic times.
As the health crisis disrupted mobility and the flow of commerce to support the economy, 2GO through 2GO Sea Solutions, continues to ensure the unhindered flow of essential and fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceutical and farm products, food, finished goods, raw materials, and liquid bulk between Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
As of June 30, 2021, 2GO served and delivered a total of 97,173 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) using its container ships. In 2020, 2GO delivered over 198,000 TEUs.
“2GO continues to reinforce its role as an essential business and reliable partner that its customers and the country can count on. We are cognizant of the important part we need to play to help energize the economy in the service of areas and sectors heavily impacted by the crisis,” 2GO Group Chief Operating Officer Waldo Basilla said.
“To ensure our ships are able to call on the various ports in the Philippines safely, 2GO ensures crew and public well-being by instituting highest health protocols and standards on board our ships,” Mr. Basilla added.
Currently 2GO services a total of 18 ports of call nationwide. In July 2021, it expanded its port coverage to include Tagbilaran City in Bohol with weekly services to increase regional connections. 2GO also added frequency to Davao and General Santos to a weekly service to boost local economies in Southern Mindanao.
“By providing vessels directly to key ports in underserved areas, we are able to improve the reliability and enhance the movement of essential goods,” Mr. Basilla said.
Critical to the transportation of essential goods nationwide is the need to move chilled and frozen goods such as fruits, meat and poultry, seafood, dairy and delicate cold products during the pandemic.
2GO Special Containers and Value-Added Services, Inc., owns one of the largest reefer fleets and is the only logistics provider that offers less than container load (LCL) both for chilled and frozen good movements anywhere in the Philippines. 2GO maintains a rigid refleeting and maintenance policy for its reefer containers and trucks to ensure product quality and freshness in the transport of cold and delicate products.
The pandemic has likewise displaced the livelihood of numerous Filipinos, many of whom have become social entrepreneurs selling products online. 2GO Express recognized the requirements of these MSMEs and supported them by providing solutions that connect sellers and buyers through its pickup and delivery services across the Philippines. Revenues here have doubled year on year in line with the expansion of the B2C market.
At the same time, some have also turned to the selling of local products globally. 2GO, through its partnership with FedEx Express, enabled the international transportation to many countries where Filipinos ship their products.
For one, 2GO Express enabled Arnie Enriquez of Travel Bestie to transform her business amid the pandemic and help expand her enterprise through cargoes shipped domestically and internationally.
“2GO Express hasn’t only helped our business grow, but it has also broadened our network. Our outlet has benefited our clients in the e-commerce sector, especially our kababayans here in Taytay, Rizal who used to bring tons of their products to the port. We’re so thankful for the support that 2GO has extended to our kababayans in the Philippines and abroad,” Ms. Enriquez said.
