The National Housing Authority in Bicol (NHA-5) reported on Monday that more than 2,000 residents availed themselves of government services during the agency’s People’s Caravan: Serbisyong Dala ay Pag-asa” recently held at the Sorsogon provincial capitol grounds in Sorsogon City.
In a news release, NHA-5 Acting Regional Manager Engr. Rolando G. Ramos said the caravan, held on Aug. 6, brought together 36 government and private sector partner agencies that provide services in civil registration, identification documents, health care, employment, livelihood, legal assistance, and financial literacy.
Among the participating agencies were the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Philippine National Police, Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Land Transportation Office, Department of Health, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Department of Agriculture.
A job fair, medical and dental missions, skills demonstrations, a KADIWA Pop-Up Store, and distribution of agricultural inputs such as seedlings and fingerlings were also held.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology provided free Wi-Fi and e-GovPH assistance, while the Public Attorney’s Office offered legal and notarial services.
The Philippine Information Agency also conducted an orientation on identifying and debunking fake news.
NHA-5 reported that the activity was the first of several caravans scheduled for August as part of its continuing effort to bring essential government services closer to housing beneficiaries and communities.
The initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda of making government services more accessible to Filipinos. (PNA)
