The city government has given full doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines to 88,500 residents who received the two doses or the single-dose Janssen vaccine, the city Health Services Office (HSO) said in a report.

The number is 36.87 percent of the 240,000 eligible individuals for vaccination who are 18 years old and above.

The city government thru the HSO reported that as of August 8, it has administered a total of 189,645 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

The report shows the A3 category or person with comorbidities has the most number of vaccinees with 53,432, followed by the A2 category or senior citizens with 41,228. The A1 category or those in the healthcare sector and their families has 36,543 while there are 35,525 in the economic sector who were vaccinated.

There are 3,567 from the A5 category or indigent population who have received one or complete doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, in an interview with the media on Monday, made an assurance that there are enough vaccines to cover all eligible residents.

The city aims to vaccinate 70 or 80 percent of the eligible population to achieve herd immunity from the virus, the mayor said.

He added the city government has allotted PHP200 million to purchase 380,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines for the purpose. (PNA)
