The Dinagat Islands provincial government has completed the release of over PHP1 million worth of allowances for its 543 scholars for the first semester of the school year 2022-2023, an official said Wednesday.

In an interview, John Philip Tan, the executive assistant of Governor Nilo Demerey Jr., said the release of the allowances was facilitated on Tuesday.

“Each of the scholars received PHP2,000 in allowances or a total of PHP1,086,000,” Tan said.

The scholars who received the aid consisted of college students presently enrolled in different schools in the province as well as in Surigao City.

Meanwhile, the provincial government also announced the formal turnover of PHP4,417,811 worth of projects to two villages in Cagdianao town on Tuesday.

“The projects were funded under the One Dinagat Movement led by Gov. Demerey, Dinagat Islands District Representative Alan Ecleo, and Vice Governor Benglen Ecleo,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.

The completed projects included the PHP2.95-million multipurpose building, and the PHP1.45-million road project in Barangays Poblacion and Mataas, respectively. (PNA)
