The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Davao Region (CIDG-11) underscored the success of its campaign against crime and criminal groups, leading to the arrest of more than 200 individuals in the region this year.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Major Milgrace Driz, deputy head of CIDG-11, said their flagship anti-criminality program is focused on monitoring, investigating, and prosecuting criminals involved in economic sabotage and other high-profile crimes.
CIDG-11 records show that from January to December 17 this year, its “Oplan Pagtugis”, or campaign against wanted persons, resulted in 406 operations, 449 arrested persons, and the seizure of six firearms.
Driz said the agency’s “Oplan Paglalansag Omega”, or campaign against loose firearms and private armed groups, resulted in 32 operations and arrest of 53 persons.
“We have confiscated 43 high-power firearms and 23 low-power firearms under the program,” she added.
She said the campaign against criminal gangs has also resulted in the arrest of 90 persons, while its anti-gambling campaign has led to the arrest of 50 persons and the filing of 47 cases.
“On our campaign against prostitution and pornography or ‘Oplan Magdalena,’ we have conducted six operations. We have apprehended six persons and have filed six cases to court,” Driz said.
For 2020, Driz said they will intensify their operations on loose firearms and private armed groups. (PNA)
