An additional augmentation of family food packs (FFPs) sent by the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Caraga (DSWD-13) arrived on Friday in the town of Sison, one of the areas affected by Typhoon Odette in Surigao del Norte.

In a statement Friday, the local government unit (LGU) announced it has received the 2,000 food packs that will be distributed to seven of its barangays.

“The supplementary FFPs will be dispensed in Barangays Biyabid, Lower Patag, Ima, Mabuhay, Tinogpahan, and San Pablo,” the Sison municipal government said.

The LGU noted that the FFPs, which included three kilos of rice, assorted canned goods, coffee, and cereal drink, were the third batch of augmentation they received from the DSWD.

The first batch of 1,000 FFPs were earlier distributed in Barangay San Pedro, while the second batch of 1,250 FFPs were given to Barangays Upper Patag, Gacepan, Tagbayani, San Isidro, and Mayag.

“We are thankful to the DSWD for the additional FFPs,” the LGU-Sison said.

A total of 864 families or 2,984 individuals from nine barangays in Sison were directly hit by Typhoon Odette last Dec. 16, 2021. (PNA)
