A total of 30 brand new vehicles were distributed to various Philippine National Police (PNP) units across the Bicol region over a three-day rollout led by Ako Bicol Party-List Rep. Elizaldy Co.

“These will help prevent crimes and provide public safety services to the citizens of the Bicol Region,” Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said in an interview Friday.

Dizon said police response to any emergencies will be increased with the help of the all-terrain patrol vehicles.

“These all-new vehicles are very timely for the upcoming national and local elections on Monday,” he said.

In a separate interview, Co said the project is a vital step toward strengthening the logistical capability of the PNP, especially in far-flung areas where response time can make a crucial difference.

“This is not just about handing over vehicles, this is about ensuring that our police officers can respond quickly and efficiently to any situation,” he said.

“Let me be clear, this turnover was long overdue. There’s nothing political about giving our police what they urgently need, especially now when they must respond quickly to any incidents that may arise during the election period,” he added. (PNA)
