The 54 villages of Daraga town in Albay province now have faster access to government services, particularly during disasters and emergencies, following the distribution of rescue vehicles through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

During the distribution of the vehicles to village captains and their representatives on Friday, Daraga Mayor Victor Perete said the move would ensure a faster and more reliable response to disasters, especially in providing immediate safety to remote communities and those affected by restive Mayon Volcano.

All 54 villages are now equipped with their own emergency response units, allowing far-flung and upland communities to deploy life-saving assistance without waiting for municipal transport.

Bim Dineros, chief of the Daraga Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“Daraga is very thankful to President Bongbong Marcos Jr. for supporting the local government and providing funds for the procurement of rescue vehicles in support of the Disaster Preparedness and Response program,” she said in an interview.

She said village officials, including designated drivers, will undergo training so the vehicles can be used properly and all residents can receive full service. (PNA)
