The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has activated the Regional Media Action Center (RMAC) to provide and disseminate accurate information for the upcoming national and local elections on May 12.

In a report on Thursday, PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib said the initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.

The RMAC will operate until May 18.

Calubaquib added that the establishment of the RMAC shows the partnership between the police and media practitioners in providing right, factual, and timely information before, during, and after the elections.

“It will serve as the central communication hub for coordinating information. Its primary mission is to deliver updates through official press releases, statements, and briefings led by the regional director, public information officer, and other senior officers. Regular press conferences will also be held to address election-related developments before, during, and after the elections,” she said.

Calubaquib also said that the RMAC will submit critical incident reports involving media personnel to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) and provide daily updates to the National Media Action Center (NMAC).

“The measures reflect the unit’s commitment to a transparent, secure, and well-informed electoral process. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that information is conveyed accurately and with integrity, protecting the rights of both voters and media personnel,” she said.

Calubaquib added that all public information offices in provincial offices and the Naga City Police Office have activated their respective media action centers for real-time reporting.

The local MACs will coordinate with the central RMAC at Camp Ola to ensure personnel readiness, robust communication systems, and effective monitoring operations within their respective areas of responsibility.

The PRO-5 said it remains steadfast in its obligation to foster trust, promote peace, and uphold the integrity of the 2025 elections. (PNA)
