The provincial government here is eyeing to procure an estimated 4 million doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine to cover the total household population in the province.
Governor Daniel Fernando on Monday said the provincial government will secure the vaccines once it becomes available in the country to ensure that his fellow Bulakenyos will be safe from the deadly virus.
With the help of the local government units and assistance from the national government, Fernando is optimistic that every Bulakenyo will be vaccinated for free.
“We are still waiting for feedbacks from the cities and municipalities, and from the national as well so that we know how many total vaccines will be allocated by the provincial government, but we will definitely insist that every Bulakenyo with almost 4 million population will have the vaccine,” he said.
Part of the funds for the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccines will come from the provincial government’s PHP6-billion budget this year.
The Bulacan Provincial Health Office reported that as of Sunday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the province stands at 10,973, with 675 on active status.
The total number of those who have recovered from the disease is 9,719 while the total number of deaths is 399. (PNA)
