The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the request for the PHP396.374-million funding for the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) procurement of around 402 units of motor vehicles.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman approved the issuance of Authority to Purchase Motor Vehicles (APMV) on Sept. 10, the agency said in a statement released Thursday.

The approved budget for the acquisition of motor vehicles is chargeable against the Specific Budget of the PNP under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, the DBM said.

The fund will be used to procure 40 patrol jeep 4×2, 115 personnel carrier 4×4, 40 light transport vehicles, 10 PNP vans, 183 light motorcycles and 14 EOD vehicles, the DBM added.

Pangandaman said the DBM supports initiatives aimed at boosting the capability of the police force.

“We support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to boost the capability of our PNP. We strongly believe that a well-equipped police force is better positioned in promoting public safety,” she said.

“Sa huli po, itong pag-acquire ng mga motor vehicles ng ating kapulisan, ang mga kababayan din natin ang makikinabang (In the end, our countrymen will also benefit from this acquisition of motor vehicles by our police force,” Pangandaman added. (PNA)
