The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) has provided PHP1 million in initial logistical assistance to the province of Catanduanes, which was severely affected by Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi) over the weekend.

During a briefing with Governor Joseph Cua at the Catanduanes provincial capitol in Virac town on Monday, DOH-5 Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio Albornoz assured that the health agency will meet the province’s medical and health safety needs.

“Rest assured that DOH will provide the needs. Meron na kami naka augment dito, but to provide additional needs, meron po tayong almost PHP1 million worth of health response. (Rest assured that DOH will provide for the needs. We have already augmented here, but to provide additional needs, we have almost PHP1 million worth of health response),” he said.

Among the logistical aids were medicines, jerry cans, hygiene kits, collapsible water containers, breastfeeding kits, aqua tabs, chlorine granules, disaster relief tents, cot beds, body bags, water tanks, and others.

Albornoz also said DOH-5 has allotted PHP2 million for the rehabilitation of health facilities that were damaged by “Pepito” in the island province.
