At least 21 farming associations in this province have received various equipment that could help boost the farmers’ productivity.

The distribution was held during the Provision of Intervention for High-Value Crops Production program held in front of the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here on Thursday.

The distribution was spearheaded by the Bulacan provincial government through the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) and in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III).

Provincial Agriculturist Gloria Carrillo said the program is focused on the groups of vegetable farmers and beneficiaries that were chosen after being evaluated by the DA and PAO.

Farming associations from the various towns received either a knapsack sprayer, a shallow tube well, multi-cultivator, power sprayer, greenhouse, screen house, and solar-powered irrigation system or wind pump.

Governor Daniel Fernando, who led the equipment distribution, cited the importance of food being produced by the farmers.

“During this pandemic, we especially observed the importance of foods such as rice and vegetables that we distributed during the lockdown in our province. So it is only right that we improve our farming,” he said.

The High-Value Crops Development Program is one of the DA’s banner programs focused on the development of vegetables and fruits by providing assistance to farmers, such as quality tools and seedlings, to increase their productivity. (PNA)
