Churches under the Archdiocese of Manila have been directed to hold a second collection in all Masses this weekend for the victims of Super Typhoon Pepito (international Man-yi).

In Circular No. 2024-83 issued on Wednesday, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula said the second collection would be held in Masses on Saturday evening and the whole day of Sunday.

“Kindly remit all collections to the Accounting Office of the Arzobispado de Manila on or before 29 November 2024,” the cardinal said.

At the same time, Advicula offered prayers to those affected by the powerful typhoon.

“We offer our prayers and sacrifices for our brothers and sisters who were severely affected by typhoon Pepito so that the Lord may grant them comfort and strength. As we do this, we will likewise help alleviate their suffering. We beg the Lord to grant us the hands that build and the hearts that give,” he said.

Pepito pummeled the provinces of Catanduanes, Aurora and parts of Northern Luzon on Nov. 17 and 18, displacing over 1 million individuals. (PNA)
