The municipal government here has acquired new vehicles for its disaster office to accelerate further the town’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) response.

Mayor Sylvia Austria said on Friday that aside from two ambulances and a rescue vehicle, they also procured a solid waste management truck.

The vehicles were commissioned to the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO) after Friday’s blessing at the municipal hall grounds.

The acquisition was funded by a portion of the town’s calamity fund, Austria said.

“Kailangan ito lalo na ngayong may pandemic (It is needed, especially now that there is a pandemic),” she said, adding that the local government also established other facilities for the Covid-19 response.

Meanwhile, Austria reiterated her call to her constituents to continuously practice minimum health standards to stop the spread of the pandemic.

“Maging mahinahon, manatili sa inyong mga bahay at huwag lumabas kung hindi kinakailangan (Be calm, stay in your homes, and do not go out unless necessary),” she said. (PNA)
