The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 7 (DSWD-7) has reported that Tropical Storm Paeng affected 65,461 people or 3,561 families in 220 barangays in the four Central Visayas provinces.

A report from the DSWD-7 obtained by the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday showed that as of Oct. 31, more than PHP759,000 in assistance was also handed out by the agency through their local counterparts in the aftermath of the storm.

The assistance includes food packs, hot meals, modular tents, and hygiene kits, among others.

Locally stranded individuals in the four provinces reached 3,236, but all have already departed as of the latest reporting.

The affected provinces are Cebu (with 30 local government units or LGUs, 115 barangays, 1,245 families/16,251individuals); Bohol (21 LGUs, 82 barangays, 995 families/43,901 individuals); and Negros Oriental (9 LGUs, 23 barangays, 1,321 families/5,309 individuals).

DSWD-7 said it had prepositioned 13,951 family food packs and 1,807 non-food items amounting to over PHP12.3 million in various warehouses across the region. (PNA)
