The Pasig City government on Thursday started the hiring process under its cash-for-work program wherein residents will help in clean-up drives and clearing operations in barangays badly hit by Typhoon Ulysses.
The city government said one member of each household can apply for the city’s cash-for-work project under the “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers” (TUPAD).
Applicants must be between 18 to 65 years old and should be part of the city’s master list of typhoon-affected individuals as validated by the Pasig City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD).
Aspiring workers are required to undergo free enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) testing for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to ensure that they are not infected by the virus while working in the community.
Accepted workers will be assisting in the cleaning operations and other restoration efforts in typhoon-affected barangays in Pasig.
Virtual classes
Meanwhile, the city government announced that the virtual classes in Santolan Elementary School and Santolan High School remain suspended until Nov. 30 as per the recommendation of the city’s education department.
“The local government unit of Pasig will ask schools and teachers to give extra consideration to all students who may have difficulty completing their modules, especially for lack of internet connectivity,” the city added.
The city government continues to conduct free ECLIA Antibody Testing for Covid-19 to the residents currently staying at the evacuation centers.
The city government said it will also test those evacuees who already returned home.
“Mahigpit pong hinihikayat ang lahat ng lumikas at nanatili sa evacuation centers na may edad 10 gulang pataas na pumunta sa pinakamalapit na barangay health center para sa ECLIA testing (We are strictly urging everyone who evacuated and those who are currently staying in evacuation centers aged 10 years old and above to visit the nearest barangay health center and undergo ECLIA testing),” the city said.
The ECLIA testing is part of the city’s efforts to immediately isolate Covid-positive patients to halt the spread of further infection, especially as the city reels from the typhoon’s aftermath. (PNA)
