The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) is encouraging professionals to volunteer their expertise to assist communities in need.
PNVSCA Executive Director Donald James Gawe, in an interview with the city’s information office on Tuesday, said the public often associates volunteerism with disaster risk reduction and social welfare.
However, professionals in fields like financial counseling, engineering, and information technology can also make significant contributions.
“That is what we are pushing for in different sectors. Maybe we can create a platform for them,” Gawe said.
Gawe was in the city to join the local government’s celebration of National Volunteer Month.
As part of the celebration, a Volunteer Expo was launched, showcasing initiatives that drive community involvement and collaboration.
The expo also features 1,045 job vacancies offered by 10 local employers and two overseas recruitment agencies, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development provides consultations and referrals to social services.
The National Volunteer Month celebration emphasizes the theme “Igniting Volunteer-Led Innovation for Future Growth and Social Transformation.” (PNA)
