Public Reminded To Properly Wear Face Masks Amid Covid-19 Rise

With coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases on the upswing, National Task Force Against Covid-19 chair, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, on Thursday reminded the public to properly wear their face masks and comply with other safety and health protocols.

“Mga kababayan, dumarami ang nagkaka-Covid. Ang pagsusuot ng face mask at ang pagsunod sa iba pang safety and health protocols ay mga mabisang paraan panguntra sa Covid-19. Nananawagan ako isuot natin ng maayos ang ating mga face mask (My countrymen, an increasing number of people are getting infected with Covid-19. The proper wearing of face and strict compliance with safety and other health protocols are the among the most effective means to defeat the virus. I am appealing to everyone to properly wear their face masks),” he said in a video posted on the Department of National Defense (DND) Facebook page.

Lorenzana said everyone should make it a habit to properly wear face masks to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

“Siguruhing nakalapat ang face mask sa inyong mga mukha para hindi makapasok ang mga dumi o virus (Make sure to cover your face properly with the mask to prevent dirt and the virus from getting in),” he said. “Sundin po natin ito. Ito ay depensa laban sa pandemya. Mag-ingat po tayong lahat (Let us follow with this. This is part of our defense against the pandemic. Let us all take care).”

As of Thursday, the Department of Health said the country has recorded 16,313 new Covid-19 infections and 236 new deaths, bringing the overall tally of active cases to 131,921 and the death toll to 32,728.

The DOH also logged 9,659 recoveries, pushing the country’s overall recovery count to 1,734,551. (PNA)
