Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Wednesday led the House of Representatives in greeting Muslim communities on the occasion of Eid’l Adha, urging all Filipinos to uphold unity, understanding, and compassion despite differences in faith and culture.

“Sa ating mga kapatid na Muslim dito sa Pilipinas at sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo, isang mapayapa at makabuluhang pagdiriwang ng Eid’l Adha (To our Muslim brothers here in the Philippines and in various parts of the world, a peaceful and meaningful celebration of Eid’l Adha),” Dy said in a video message.

He said Eid’l Adha highlights the values of faith, sacrifice, compassion, and obedience to God, principles that continue to bring understanding and inspiration to our society.

The Speaker from Isabela stressed that the occasion should also remind Filipinos that unity remains stronger than differences in religion and culture.

“Nawa’y magsilbi ang Eid’l Adha bilang paalala na sa kabila ng ating pagkakaiba sa pananampalataya at kultura, nananatiling mas matibay ang ating pagkakaisa bilang mga Pilipino na may iisang hangarin para sa kapayapaan, pagkakapatiran, at pag-unlad ng ating bayan (May the Eid’l Adha serve to remind us that despite our differences in faith and culture, our unity as Filipinos remains stronger, with a shared goal for peace, brotherhood and progress for our nation),” he said.

“Sa panahon ngayon, mahalagang patuloy nating pairalin ang pag-unawa, respeto, at malasakit sa isa’t isa upang lalo nating mapatatag ang pagkakaisa ng ating sambayanan (In these times, it is important to continue promoting understanding, respect and concern for one another to help strengthen national solidarity,” Dy said.

Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is among the holiest celebrations in Islam and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to obey the will of God.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier declared May 27 a regular non-working holiday nationwide in observance of the occasion. (PNA)
