Noteworthy film critic Peter Travers of Rolling Stone describes it “a triumph.”

“A fascinating and gorgeous crime thriller,” raves Clayton Davis of Awards Circuit.

Indeed, Warner Bros. Pictures’ mystery thriller “Motherless Brooklyn” has been winning over reviewers since its recent US release, and now Philippine audiences can finally watch it as the film opens exclusively at select Ayala Malls Cinemas starting today.

Directed, written, produced and starring Oscar nominee Edward Norton (“Birdman”), “Motherless Brooklyn,” tells the story of Lionel Essrog (Norton), a lonely private detective living with Tourette Syndrome, who ventures to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna (Bruce Willis). Armed only with a few clues and the engine of his obsessive mind, Lionel unravels closely guarded secrets that hold the fate of New York in the balance.

In a mystery that carries him from gin-soaked jazz clubs in Harlem to the hard-edged slums of Brooklyn and, finally, into the gilded halls of New York’s power brokers, Lionel contends with thugs, corruption and the most dangerous man in the city to honor his friend and save the woman who might be his own salvation.

Adding to “Motherless Brooklyn’s” acclaim is a well-deserved Golden Globe nomination for Best Score-Motion Picture for composer Daniel Pemberton whose music for the film has its share of critical admiration.

Clayton Davis continues his raves with “The real technical mastery that is demonstrated is the bombastic and hypnotic composition of the film’s musical score, provided by the multi-talented Daniel Pemberton; the single greatest effort of his career to date and something that is fully worthy of accolades this film year.”

“A stunning musical score from Daniel Pemberton, best I have heard all year,” agrees Pete Hammond of Deadline Hollywood. “The music is almost a character unto itself in the film.”

Finally, Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly sums it up: “‘Motherless Brooklyn’ casts a quiet sort of spell: a meticulously, lovingly made mood piece, full of empathy for the ones who can’t speak – at least not always the way they want to – for themselves.”
