Singer and songwriter Billie Eilish went on a huge victory lap when she took home five Grammys out of her six nominations for the 62nd Grammy Awards, making her win the most Grammys for the night (tied with her brother Finneas O’Connell). Individually, she won the Grammy for Best New Artist. For her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Eilish bagged the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. And for her hit song “Bad Guy”, she and O’Connell win Grammys for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Finneas won a separate award for Producer of the Year in correlation to Eilish’s album.

Big winners for the night include Lizzo with three wins for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts”, Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jerome” and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Cuz I Love You (Deluxe); Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus with two wins for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for “Old Town Road”; and Lady Gaga with two wins for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media for her work in A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper (who also won).

During the ceremony, several performers paid tribute to several celebrities who passed away that time. DJ Khaled, Kirk Franklin, John Legend, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch and YG dedicated “Higher” to fellow rapper Nipsey Hussle. Usher, FKA Twigs and Sheila E. performed a medley in tribute to Prince. And taking place on the same day, Alicia Keys and Boyz II Men sang “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” at the start of the ceremony. Meanwhile, performers of the night like Lil Nas X, Lizzo and DJ Khaled placed tributes to Bryant within their performances.

The 62nd Grammy Awards took place on 26th of January 2020 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, aired on CBS.
