The Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO) confirmed on Monday an additional three more cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In an interview, PHO chief, Dr. Anna Ma. de Guzman said that based on the results released by the Department of Health (DOH), two of the three confirmed cases showed symptoms of respiratory illnesses such as coughing, colds, and fever.
Both of the victims are from Malasiqui town, a 70-year-old male, and a 54-year-old female Filipinos.
De Guzman also confirmed that the Filipino-American patient who died on March 18 in a hospital in Dagupan City also tested positive for Covid-19.
Rosales and Malasiqui towns enforced a total lockdown starting 8 p.m. Monday.
“We enforce a total lockdown in order to contain the spread of the virus,” she said.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the province to four. The first positive case in the entire province is a resident from Bayambang town, a neighboring town of Malasiqui, who died on March 20 at the Lung Center of the Philippines.
As of this posting, the PHO has recorded a total of 30 patients under investigation (PUI), of which 15 were discharged and 15 admitted to the hospital.
There is a total of 59,868 persons under monitoring (PUM), of which 3,142 already completed quarantine and the rest are undergoing quarantine. (PNA)
