The Cebu Port Authority (CPA) announced that a PHP14.21-million budget has been allocated to rehabilitate the municipal wharf of Bantayan town in Bantayan Island, northern Cebu.

The repair and rehabilitation project for the Bantayan Municipal Wharf is funded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

CPA general manager Leonilo Miole on Thursday said this is one of the two projects funded by DOTr programmed to be implemented in Cebu province.

Another project in the pipeline is the San Fernando Port Project in the southern coast of Cebu, which is still on the process of procurement for the consultancy work.

According to Miole, among the works to be carried out in the Bantayan wharf rehabilitation project include mobilization and demobilization, rehabilitation of wharf deck causeway in compliance to all security, safety, health and environmental regulations.

He said the project is eyed to be completed within 10 months.

CPA administers all ports located in Cebu province, separating these ports from the Philippine Ports Authority system. CPA began operations and officially took over all Cebu ports in January 1996. (PNA)
