The city government of Malabon said it targets to initially inoculate 118,000 of its populations as it readies 11 teams of vaccinators who will be manning five identified vaccination sites in the city.
Mayor Lenlen Oreta on Tuesday said the city government is eyeing to vaccinate around 1,100 individuals daily once the city-wide vaccination begins in Malabon.
It will be done in five vaccination sites initially identified by the city government, which include Ospital ng Malabon, Acacia Elementary School, Malabon National High School, Potrero Elementary School, and Longos Elementary School.
Oreta said the city government has already signed a tripartite agreement with the national government and pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca.
Malabon city health officer Bobby Romero laid out the city’s Covid-19 vaccination plan during the visit of the Covid-19 Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) team, led by the National Task Force (NTF) and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) in Malabon City.
Romero said part of the city government’s plan for the inoculation program is to provide free shuttle services to residents who are qualified to get Covid-19 vaccine shots.
He said the city has already coordinated with local transport associations and drivers such as tricycle, e-tricycle, and jeepneys to fetch residents who are scheduled for vaccination each day.
“They will be transported from the pick-up points in their barangays to their designated vaccination sites, so, it’s important for us to know their schedule of vaccination,” Romero said as he presented the city-wide immunization plan to the NTF.
He added that they will also tap drivers hard-hit by the pandemic.
Romero said the city has already prepared the logistical requirements including freezers, vaccine carriers, refrigerators, and the dial thermometer for cold-chain monitoring.
According to Romero, the Ospital Ng Malabon will serve as an inoculation site for the city’s medical front-liners and healthcare workers.
Acacia Elementary School will serve residents of barangays Niugan, Ibaba, San Agustin, Tañong, Tonsuya, Acacia, Tugatog, Tinajeros, Maysilo, and Catmon.
Meanwhile, Malabon National High School will accommodate those coming from barangays of Baritan, Concepcion, Dampalit, Hulong Duhat, Panghulo, Antolan, Muzon, Bayan-bayanan, and Flores, he said.
Also, Potrero Elementary School will be reserved for Potrero residents and Longos Elementary School will be for Longos residents, he added.
Each team of vaccinators will be vaccinating around 100 persons from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Romero said the city government also considers identifying additional vaccination sites, but it will depend on the number of vaccines deployed in the city.
Once vaccines arrive, Romero said they will prioritize the vaccination of the city’s 3,027 health workers, 33,353 indigent senior citizens, and the 15,163 remaining senior citizens.
Some 23,140 individuals who are part of the remaining indigent population, and some 542 uniformed personnel such as police and firefighters, will also be inoculated.
Meanwhile, the CODE team has expressed satisfaction with the local vaccination plan of Malabon City.
The city government has allocated PHP200 million fund for its vaccination campaign. (PNA)
