To conform with the Inter-Agency Task Force-approved uniform travel protocols nationwide, the province of Ilocos Sur announced Tuesday that quarantine is no longer required for travelers unless they exhibit symptoms upon arrival in the province.

Except for Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) who work in government, a negative RT-PCR test result along with other documentary requirements such as identification card, travel order and travel itinerary will still be required for returning residents and locally-stranded individuals, tourists, and frequent border crossers.

All these were contained in a three-page Executive Order No. 20 of Governor Ryan Luis Singson who is among the first in Region 1 to come up with updated travel protocols while the province remains under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

“All travelers, before entry to Ilocos Sur, shall pass the symptom screening at the border upon arrival, and in case of public transport upon boarding,” said Singson in a statement on Tuesday.

On the other hand, the province of Ilocos Norte through Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc has yet to make an official announcement about the updated travel guidelines.

As of this posting, Covid-19 testing and quarantine remain in effect in Ilocos Norte while concerned authorities are still in the process of updating travel protocols.

Meanwhile, concerned authorities shall continue to strictly implement minimum health protocols such as physical distancing as well as wearing of face masks and face shields. (PNA)
