About 10,200 government workers belonging to 62 agencies in Quezon City have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Among the government agencies served by the QCProtekTODO program were the Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Agriculture, National Housing Authority, Commission on Higher Education, and National Power Corporation.

“Since Quezon City is home to many national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and their subsidiaries, their employees are also eligible to be part of our vaccination program,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement on Thursday.

Mona Yap, the city officer-in-charge for the vaccination of government agencies, said some offices requested that the vaccination be done inside their premises while others asked for appointments in jabs sites.

“For agencies with a large number of employees under priority categories, they set up their own vaccination sites with their own medical teams and we provide the vaccines. But for those with only 10 to 20 listed employees, we secure a schedule for them at our vaccination sites,” Yap said.

The vaccination site setup is subject to ocular inspection by the City Health Department.

On vaccination day itself, CHD monitors the process.

The city likewise accommodates private companies wanting protection for their employees and coordinates with homeowners’ associations, malls, and other establishments in a bid to achieve population protection at the soonest possible time.

Overall, the city has administered 796,825 doses as of June 29, with 223,972 of them comprised of second doses.

About 1.7 million adult residents are eyed for vaccination but if minors will be included, the city’s target number may go up to 2.2 million, Belmonte said.

QC is also holding “Bakuna Nights” at the City Hall for workers who cannot go to jabs centers during regular business hours. (PNA)
