The Department of Communication Research of the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication, together with the Philippines Communication Society (PCS), the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE), and the Philippine Association for Communication and Media Research, Inc. (PACMRI), is holding the 7th National Communication Research Conference (NCRC) online on 12 and 13 November 2021.

NCRC 2021 provides a venue for students, faculty, and media professionals across the country to share and disseminate their studies in the field of communication and media. First organized by the Department of Communication Research in 2012, the NCRC is the geographic expansion of the Communication Research Student Conference which the Department began in 2008.

This year’s theme, “Breaking Through Outbreaks and Breakdowns: Re-searching Communication and Media in the Pandemic,” probes into the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak on people, groups, communities, institutions, practices, and behaviors. It will tackle the various breakdowns that the pandemic is causing in the norms, patterns, models, standards, and routines of communication and media research and practice. It will also highlight the breakthroughs, realizations, discoveries, the steps forward, and the looking beyond which are helping open new possibilities for communication and media research. The conference involves plenary sessions with invited speakers and parallel sessions featuring competitive papers. Details are available at https://www.facebook.com/NCRCPhilippines/.

The conference is open to everyone, including those who will not present a paper. The registration fee covers the electronic book of abstracts, a virtual conference badge and a digital certificate of participation. For other conference details, interested parties can visit http://bit.ly/ncrc2021cfa. The abstract submission portal is at http://bit.lyncrc2021abstract.
