Monolith Productions, the company behind Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, is currently working on a new Wonder Woman game.

According to Monolith, it has an original plot in which players will “become Diana of Themyscira in the fight to unify her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world.”

The Wonder Woman game does not yet have a set release date. Warner Bros., a studio that produces films, states that the game is “under development,” implying that it will be released in the next few years. This game won’t be released until 2023 at the earliest.

At The Game Awards 2021, the Wonder Woman game was revealed with a surprise trailer. It doesn’t show much, only Wonder Woman’s character model while Hippolyta narrates, pleading with her daughter to return to Themyscira.

Monolith added that Wonder Woman will be “a new third-person, open-world action-adventure game,” which isn’t surprising. The Nemesis System, a creative orc-management mechanic, was grafted on top of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, a third-person action RPG. It was well-received when it was released in 2014, and it was followed by Shadow of War in 2017.

The Nemesis System will also be used in Wonder Woman, according to the studio, allowing players to forge deep bonds with both adversaries and allies as they develop from a heroic fighter into a proven leader.
