The Chinese government is donating six sets of fire trucks to Marawi City, Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian said Wednesday.

“With the donation of these fire trucks, the Bureau of Fire Protection in Marawi City will provide a more efficient and effective fire safety response within its area of responsibility and its nearby municipalities. This project will help contribute to this region’s economic and social recovery, and its long-lasting peace and prosperity,” he said in a statement.

“Hope the fire trucks donated by China will help our Filipino friends rebuild a more safe and beautiful Marawi city, and help the city back to its former glory,” he added.

The announcement came following the signing of the Marawi Fire Trucks Donation project between the envoy and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro on April 27.

Huang said the donation is part of Beijing’s support for the Philippine government’s Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Program. (PNA)
