The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) targets to register around 4 million or 50 percent of their members in Western Visayas for the Konsulta Program as part of the offering under Universal Health Care.

Janimhe Jalbuna, chief of the PhilHealth public affairs office, said on Thursday they looked forward to their last year’s intensive campaign to be translated into action or for the public to avail of the preventive health care services.

“Hopefully this year we will not just register but our utilization should be high. We should change the behavior of our members to avail of the services being offered by Konsulta,” she said in an interview.

Konsulta covers individual-based services including initial and follow-up primary care consultations, health screening and assessment, and access to selected 13 diagnostic services and 21 medicines.

She added that upon consultation, the provider will come up with the health profile of the member that will be made available in the facility and the future in the entire network of health facilities.

“That health profile will be made available and accessible when you are referred to other higher health facilities,” Jalbuna said.

In 2022, only 76,450 members enrolled for the Konsulta Program out of the over 2 million target and 125 health facilities secured accreditation.

This year, the state health insurance is looking forward to accrediting 200 health facilities to serve over 4 million.

So far, 50 health facilities composed of rural health units and hospitals have approved accreditation.

They are composed of seven health facilities in Aklan, 13 in Antique, six in Capiz, five each in Negros Occidental and Guimaras, and 14 in Iloilo.

“If they intend to participate in the program, it is better that they get their accreditation early so our members can avail of the benefits as early as possible,” the PhilHealth official said.

Jalbuna said that members registering for the Konsulta may check the website of the Facebook page of PhilHealth.

There will also be signages to be installed in Konsulta provider facilities. (PNA)
