The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has strengthened its support for local entrepreneurship with the opening of the 29th Negosyo Center in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, expanding access to business development services for aspiring entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Acting provincial director Zaldy Zafra said in a statement on Wednesday that the center aims to provide a more accessible venue for individuals who want to establish businesses and for existing entrepreneurs seeking to improve their operations, expand their markets, and strengthen their competitiveness.

“This highlights the strong collaboration between DTI and local government units in creating an enabling environment for business growth and entrepreneurship,” he said.

The Negosyo Center in Magsingal town is expected to serve as a convenient platform for local entrepreneurs to avail business advisory services, entrepreneurial training, registration assistance, and other information on DTI programs and services.

Negosyo Centers are established under Republic Act 10644, or the Go Negosyo Act, to promote entrepreneurship and support the growth of MSMEs across the country.

By helping aspiring business owners turn their ideas into viable enterprises, the initiative seeks to encourage innovation, create livelihood opportunities, and strengthen local economic development.

For her part, Magsingal Mayor Victoria Ina Favis expressed support for the initiative, recognizing the center as another milestone in the government’s efforts to strengthen the municipality’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and ensure that business support services remain accessible to the grassroots.

“Thanks to DTI for opening up more opportunities for entrepreneurs. This creates more sustainable livelihood opportunities for our community,” said Vicky Ulap, president of the Tilapia Growers Association in Ilocos Sur. (PNA)
