ABS-CBN won for the 3rd time in the prestigious Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards after “Local Legends” bagged a Silver Dolphin in the Lifestyle, Art, Music, and Culture category this year.

The winning special documentary program about Filipino master craftsmen was produced by ABS-CBN News’ documentary arm DocuCentral, which already won a Gold Dolphin in 2018 for its piece on the Marawi seige and another Silver Dolphin in 2016 for its documentary series “Mukha” that aired on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel. “Local Legends” premiered a new season on ANC last night (October 22) at 7:30 pm and will also air every Friday on ABS-CBN starting November 1.

Aside from the DocuCentral team, several other journalists in ABS-CBN News have also received recognition recently, bringing honor to the country and the media network.

ANC “Market Edge” anchor Cathy Yang bested her counterparts in the region after winning Best News or Current Affairs Presenter/Anchor in the prestigious 2019 Asian Academy Creative Awards.

Multi-awarded documentarist Chiara Zambrano, a New York Festival-winner and 2017 TOYM awardee, was named one of the 2019 The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) awardees, for helping shape and change the nation through her work as a journalist.

Meanwhile, news anchor Christian Esguerra, who helms “Early Edition” and “Matters of Fact” on ANC, was one of six recipients in this year’s Titus Brandsma Awards. Christian was recognized “for his abiding efforts to the pursuit of excellence in media reporting with his sharp analysis to interpret the meaning of events and explain the issues in the news that confront Filipinos in these difficult times.”

Science and Technology reporter Michael Delizo also added another trophy to his collection after being hailed as Best Media Personality for Television by the Filipino Inventors Society, for bridging the world of science and the community through his stories.

ABS-CBN’s Data Analytics Team, on the other hand, won the Philippine Statistics Authority’s “Best Statistical Reporting in TV Broadcast Media” award for its work in the TV report “State of the Philippine economy two years into the Duterte presidency.” The team was cited for “epitomizing the idealistic notion of fair and balanced journalism thereby giving equal weight to both sides of an argument.”

Catch season three of the internationally-acclaimed documentary series “Local Legends” every Tuesday, 7:30 pm on ANC and every Friday after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN starting November 1.
