Some 1,447 indigent residents of Lanao del Sur have received financial assistance from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through its Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), an official said Wednesday.

Lawyer Raissa Jajurie, the region’s MSSD minister, said the distribution of the financial aid formed part of the various social protection programs of their agency to the needy constituents of the region.

On Tuesday, she said the indigents have availed of government packages under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Kupkop Program, and the Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan (ABaKa) Program.

Under the SLP, she said 956 small business owners received PHP15,000 financial assistance each to improve their ventures.

About 183 orphans, on the other hand, have received PHP5,000 each under the Kupkop program.

For the ABaKa program, 62 college students received PHP10,000 each while 163 high school students got PHP3,000 each and PHP2,000 each to 84 elementary pupils.

Jajurie said the beneficiaries, chosen after review and validation of their qualifications, were from the municipalities of Bacolod, Madalum, Madamba, Ganassi, Pualas, Pagayawan, Calanogas, Picong, Binidayan, Bayang, Tubaran, Lumbaca Unayan, Lumbayanague, Butig and Sultan Domalondong. (PNA)
