The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has launched the bidding process for the lease and redevelopment of the iconic Mile Hi property in Camp John Hay, Baguio City, which aims to stimulate local investment, tourism, and job creation.

The 6,647-square-meter site, once home to a popular recreation center, is set to be transformed into a mixed-use development featuring an eco-hostel, along with high-end retail and dining spaces.

“This strategic redevelopment of Mile Hi underscores our commitment to unlocking the full potential of Camp John Hay,” BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang said.

“By attracting private sector investment and creating new commercial opportunities, we are not only enhancing the camp’s appeal as a premier destination but also generating employment and stimulating economic activity for the benefit of the community and the nation,” he added.

BCDA said the winning bidder would secure a 25-year lease agreement to restore and upgrade the property into a modern commercial hub that integrates environmental sustainability and historical preservation.

The project aims to draw more visitors to Baguio and further position Camp John Hay as a top-tier leisure and investment destination in Northern Luzon.

The Mile Hi project is part of BCDA’s ongoing efforts to revitalize Camp John Hay, which has already drawn over PHP1 billion in investments since it was reclaimed. (PNA)
