The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is setting sustainable projects in the second half of 2025 under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 in Misamis Oriental province.
In a statement on Wednesday, Arlene Novo, the provincial SAAD focal person, said that sustainable initiatives for the program would work with the Provincial Program Management Support Office (PPMSO) to promote inclusive growth and sustainable development in the province’s fisheries sector.
“Through this activity, we can come up with a plan that aligns with our efforts to ensure that our fisherfolk continue to benefit from responsive and community-driven interventions,” she said.
Among the key SAAD projects are the enhancement of municipal agriculturists, fishery extension workers, and presidents or representatives of local fisherfolk associations.
Stakeholders have also drafted the 2025 Project Sustainability Plan, which outlines strategies to sustain and expand the gains made in the fisheries sector. (PNA)
