The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) of Bulacan is now ready to deploy a team to Batangas province, particularly in Talisay town to help the people affected by Taal Volcano’s eruption on Sunday.
Liz Mungcal, head of the Bulacan PDRRMO, said Governor Daniel Fernando has ordered them to prepare for immediate dispatch to the evacuation centers in Batangas to assist other government agencies.
“They are only waiting for a go signal from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 3 as they already have coordinated and ready to proceed,” Mungcal said.
Fernando suspended classes in all public schools and private schools as well as work in the provincial government.
He, however, said offices in charge of delivery of basic and health services “shall continue with their operations and rendered the necessary services”.
The governor said the PDRRMO is also providing assistance to the Bulacan residents who may have been affected by the ashfall which reached as far as Pampanga.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Bulacan dispatched teams to check the alleged overpriced face masks.
Ernani Dionisio, director-in-charge of DTI-Bulacan, warned that violators shall be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.
“The agency will not hesitate to file administrative and criminal charges against unscrupulous business entities and individuals who capitalize on the consumers’ urgent need for their own profit,” he said. (PNA)
