Converge ICT Solutions Inc. and real estate developer PRO-FRIENDS on February 23 formally signed a memorandum of agreement that will allow the Philippines’ largest fixed broadband service provider to digitally enable various residential projects of the property developer in Cavite.

“Our agreement with PRO-FRIENDS will allow us to initially provide for the more than 20,000 households in Lancaster New City access to high speed but still affordable internet connection,” said Jesus Romero, Chief Operating Officer of Converge.

“We welcome the entry of Converge into our communities. We are confident that with the help of Converge, our various residential projects will truly be modern and digitally-enabled communities,” said Shannon King, Strategic Business Unit Deputy Head of PRO-FRIENDS.

PRO-FRIENDS’ various developments in Cavite host more than 50,000 households, providing Converge with the market for future expansion.

Converge’s Romero said the company continues to partner with other real estate developers to make their projects smart communities. “Our goal is to help Filipinos bridge that digital divide and enable them to pursue their livelihood and passions as we adapt to the new normal brought about by the pandemic,” he said.

Converge aims to connect around 15 million households by 2025, around 55% of the projected number of Filipino households by that time. The company has set aside more than PHP30 billion to expand its broadband network nationwide.

Having reached 1 million subscribers before the end of 2020, Converge continues to be the country’s largest pure end-to-end high-speed fiber internet service provider. It is considered to be the largest Philippine IPO in recent history as it completed its P29 billion initial public offering (IPO) in October 2020. Converge is poised to further expand its fiber infrastructure network beyond Luzon and link the region to Visayas and Mindanao by the end of 2021.
