A total of 77,793 family food packs and 9,695 non-food items will augment relief operations of local government units (LGUs) in the Ilocos Region amid the effects of Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi).

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Ilocos said Sunday family food packs with a total worth of PHP48.3 million and non-food items worth PHP26.8 million are on standby in regional and satellite offices in the four provinces of the region.

There are 49,876 family food packs and 6,251 non-food items in La Union; 14,495 and 2,235 in Ilocos Norte; 7,215 and 553 in Ilocos Sur; and 6,207 and 656 in Pangasinan.

DSWD-Ilocos and other national government agencies are replenishing the stockpile in Pangasinan.

There are also 11,878 six-liter bottles of drinking water worth PHP712,680 and standby fund of PHP3 million.

“We have adequate supply. While we distribute as augmentation to the LGUs, the central office continuously sends replenishment,” DSWD-Ilocos Director Marie Angela Gopalan said in a recent interview. (PNA)
