Some 200 identified malnourished children in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, are benefiting from the “Nutri-Give-a-Gift” program of the city government.

In a statement Thursday, the Bislig City Information Office (CIO) said the annual activity aims to provide nutritious food to the identified malnourished children in the city.

“The yearly activity is headed by Mayor Florencio Garay who also serves as the chair of the Bislig City Nutrition Committee,” the CIO said, adding that that distribution of food to the identified children started on Wednesday.

“The Nutri-Give-a-Gift program is an innovative program of the Nutrition Division of the city government since 2002,” it added..

Aside from the Bislig Nutrition Committee, the program is also supported by the barangay chiefs in the city.

This year, the identified 200 children are coming from barangays San Fernando, Poblacion, San Isidro, Mangagoy, Coleto, Labisma and San Jose.

The children are provided with food packs containing rice, sugar, mongo beans, instant noodles, powdered chocolate drinks, sardines, corned beef, eggs, vegetables and fruits.

“The city government is thankful to the members of the nutrition committee and the barangay captains for the continued support of the yearly program,” the CIO said. (PNA)
