The leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday welcomed the result of the latest Pulse Asia survey showing majority approval and trust ratings of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano in the past three months.
According to the survey conducted from Sept. 16 to 22, Cayetano received a 64 percent approval rating and a 62 percent trust rating.
In a statement, House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez said the members of the chamber are “collectively proud” of Cayetano’s “exemplary” trust and approval scores given that this is the first time the leader has been rated in his performance by the Filipino people through the Pulse Asia’s Ulat sa Bayan survey.
“Truly, nothing warms the heart of public servants more than the appreciation of our constituents,” Romualdez said.
“The trust and approval extended by our countrymen to Speaker Cayetano will definitely prompt all of us in the House of Representatives to work harder in the legislative mill in the days to come,” he added.
One of the notable feats of the House of Representatives under Cayetano’s leadership is the passage of the 2020 national budget in record time as it was only done in 20 working days.
Deputy Speaker Michael Romero, who is also the Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc. president, lauded Cayetano’s brand of leadership, which is characterized by his sincerity, industry, and loyalty to the people.
“With Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s brand of leadership, we have no reason to doubt that the House of Representatives will continue to win the hearts of Filipinos,” Romero said.
“He truly deserved the trust of our people. We, the 52 members and officers of the Partylist Coalition Foundation Inc., draw inspiration from what the Speaker has done and has been doing for our nation,” he added.
Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu, for his part, said the survey’s outcome is a recognition of Speaker Cayetano’s “hard work for the people”.
“He has been doing his best to reciprocate the support extended to him by his colleagues when he was elected Speaker. Like President Duterte, his primary focus is to serve and make better the life of Filipino people,” Abu said. (PNA)
