Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are being encouraged to take the flights between Clark and Antique as they come home to the province for their Christmas vacation.

Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao, during a media interview, encouraged OFWs and residents to take the Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight, which she said is more convenient.

“There is now a PAL flight thrice a week from Clark to Antique,” she said. The flight is every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Cadiao is also taking the PAL flight whenever she goes to Manila on official trips.

“Although the PAL airplane is a bombardier but then it is also safe,” she said.

She added that by taking the PAL flight, Antiqueños could support the country’s flag carrier, which could hopefully make a once per day flight to the province by next year if there would be enough passengers.

The governor said that from Clark Airport, there are Point-to-Point (P2P) air-conditioned buses that can transport passengers going to Quezon City or in other parts of Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, Cadiao said the Antique airport runway will be extended from 1,430 meters to 1,800 meters to be able to accommodate jetliners.

“Once the airport runway will be lengthened, we will be able already to accommodate jetliners such as Airbus 320 or 340 which could enable us to have night flights,” she said.

She said that the provincial government is still, however, in the process of looking for a relocation site for the illegal settlers in the airport area so that the runway project could start.

PAL’s Q400NG aircraft made its maiden flight from Clark to Antique on Dec. 16, 2018 beginning with only two flights per week, which increased to three flights last April 25. (PNA)
