Some provinces in northern Luzon will experience rainy weather as typhoon Onyok (international name ‘Mitag) slowed down as it continues to move over the Philippine Sea.

In its 5 a.m. severe weather bulletin Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said ‘Onyok’ was spotted 180 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 150 kph.

Moving northwest at 20 kph, the trough of ‘Onyok’ will bring scattered light to moderate rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos provinces.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is raised over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. These areas will experience winds of 30 to 60 kph within the next 36 hours.

The weather bureau said the typhoon is unlikely to make landfall in the country and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday night.

Metro Manila & the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy witn isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 26-33 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-30 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-22 degrees Celsius; SBMA 25-33, Lipa City 24-33 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 26-34 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 26-33 degrees Celsius. (PNA)
