After bagging a bronze medal in her recent competition in China, Filipina Ju-Jitsu player Kaila Napolis clinched another recognition in the said sport as she topped the competition in Riyadh.

On October 25, Kaila’s mother, Gina Isip Napolis, posted snippets as they received her daughter’s award given by President Marcos Jr. himself, acknowledging the dedication and passion of Filipino athletes as Kaila competed at the World Combat Game 2023.

“Receiving this Asian Games recognition on behalf of our daughter Kaila Napolis while she is competing at the World Combat Game 2023 happening now in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I hope she will be able to bring another honor to our country,” Gina said.

Kaila was the first Filipina to bring home the gold medal in the women’s 52kg Ne-Waza event for Team Philippines during the 2023 World Combat Games in Saudi Arabia.

During the competition, the Filipina athlete remained undefeated during the quarterfinals up until the championship round, wherein she defeated Columbian athlete, Adriana Cruz, giving her a score of 6-0 from the quarterfinals to the finals.

Right before this win, Kaila also raised the flag of the Philippines during the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, after she defeated Hessa Alshmsi of the UAE, giving her the final 4-2 score.

Along with Kaila, other Ju-jujitsu players such as Meggie Ochoa and Anni Ramirez also won recognition in the same competition, showing the outstanding skills of Filipino women.
