Filipino athlete Bryan Bagunas made history in his volleyball career and for the country as he was hailed the “most valuable player” in his recent international match in Taiwan.

On March 29, the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Association announced that Bryan was the Top Volleyball League’s MVP.

Garnering 520 points, the athlete was able to showcase his skills on his attacks, go full net, and serve to have 301 points in attacks alone.

Bagunas has also pushed his team, Win Streak, to win its first Taiwan Top League championship after defeating its opponent, Pingtung Taipower.

“It was a tough journey to get this championship. All the sweat and hard work are worth it,” Bryan said.

With this win, the athlete also expressed his gratitude to his coach and teammates, who had supported him since the start of the tournament.

Bagunas was the first Pinoy athlete to be recognized with an MVP award overseas and was the second Filipino to support his international team to win a volleyball championship title.

The athlete was previously known for his aces at the National University during competitions at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
