Music platform Spotify unveiled its newest feature called “blend,” a rolling out of beta to Spotify Free and Premium plan users to test ‘music togetherness’ on playlists like Family Mix and Duo Mix Tuesday, August 31.

This new experience with Spotify allows users to have a “new cover art” and “test match scores” to easily identify each person’s song choices and be able to compare listening preferences that can be shared across social media.

During the test of Blend, Spotify ranked Olivia Rodrigo as the most-streamed artist on the Blend playlist, followed by others like Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Lil Nas X.

Spotify says that this new way of shared music is even “easier for users to connect, discover, and bond over the music they love with one another.”

“Each time I make a Blend with someone there’s this awesome moment when we discover which artists and songs, we both like and get to bond over how we discovered that artist or when we saw them in concert,” shared Arjun Narayen, Spotify Blend Product Manager.

Moreover, Jen Lamere, backend Engineer of Bend also shared her experience on Blend saying, “It’s a great way to connect with your friends and learn more about them, and also makes long drives with friends’ way more enjoyable.

Here’s how to access Blend on Spotify:

1. Spotify users must see the Made for You hub on the platform’s mobile app.

2. To get started, you’ll click “Create Blend”

3. Next, tap “invite” to select a friend to join your Blend.

4. Once your friend accepts your request, Spotify will create the cover art, track lists and display your taste.

5. Lastly, you can now click “Share this Story” to share Blend results across your social media networks.
