The overall winner of this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards was a photograph of a golden sink monkey sporting a pained expression on its face.

According to a statement released Wednesday, November 17 by the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, the shot is the product of amateur UK photographer Ken Jensen, who beat off 7,000 other entries. Jensen captured the moment the male monkey sat on one of the bridge’s supporting wires on a bridge over the Xun river in Yunnan, southwestern China, in 2016.

Jensen said in a statement that “I was absolutely overwhelmed to learn that my entry had won, especially when there were quite a number of wonderful photos entered”. Jensen then went on to say that the exposure that the photograph has gotten over the last few months “has been tremendous; it’s such a wonderful feeling to know that your image is making people smile all around the world while also supporting some really beneficial conservation organizations.”

Chee Kee Teo received the Creatures of the Water prize for a photograph of a mother otter fighting with her child, and Vicki Jauron won the Portfolio Award for a group of four images of a young elephant having fun in the mud at Matusadona Park in Zimbabwe.

Last year’s winner was Mark Fitzpatrick’s image of a turtle raising its middle finger to the camera, and Sarah Skinner took first place two years ago with her image of a lion cub performing a wince-inducing lunge toward the nether regions of a larger animal.
