For Filipinos, it has become a staple for them to decorate before the holidays to feel the season of giving. Through collecting and crafting, to buying presents, choosing your perfect Christmas fit, to the set of dishes to prepare for our loved ones.

In preparation of the upcoming holiday season, here are some of the materials that you should start collecting while you still have time to come up with Christmas decorations for your home.

Plastic Bottles

The purpose of waste segregation for most establishments is to collect plastic bottles for recycling purposes. Plastic in general has lots of use and can create so many things. So in order to keep the chain, plastic products are recycled to come up with something more useful.

Plastic bottles are widely recycled and seen to be used as a material in making Christmas lanterns, figurines, garlands, and a whole lot more, depending on where your creativity can take you.

Jars

While jars are already usually recycled to store consumable goods, they can also be used as a cute decorative piece. After proper sanitation, jars are always safe for reuse

This can be crafted to use as a display or candle holder, and if you have the creativity in you, it can also be transformed into a snow globe. Holiday-themed plants and decor can also be put inside the jar for display.

If you are more of a sweet treat gifter, you can also use these jars for mug cakes, candies, and other sweet treats that you can fit inside. Aside from all that, if you are fond of customizing Christmas presents, you can put good stuff inside of the jar that you can distribute to your loved ones.

Cardboards

Amongst all recyclable materials, cardboards are usually the ones that you can easily find in our household from cereal boxes. Good enough, these are also the most useful in the context of recycling.

One of the best uses of cardboards for the holidays is how they can be used as a gift tag for presents. Instead of printing on paper, one can simply write on cut-out cardboard, which makes it more heartfelt. The way it can also be customized by using markers, stickers, glitters, and more.

Cardboards can also be used to form figurines and cut-out shapes and can also be used to harden decor that needs foundation. Lastly, these can also serve as gift cards if you are a sucker for writing holiday messages.

Tin Cans

Another star of the recycling show are tin cans. These are also rampant, for it is a good steel imitation.

Just like jars, it is one of the most useful when it comes to storing, but the catch is that it is less fragile than jars. Though it can get a bit hard to shape, it is best for crafting displays. Some ideas include candle holders, piggy bank as a present,

Since steel cans rust overtime, apparently, it is only safe to be reused as decorations. By using hot glue, buttons, ribbons, glitters, colored paper, and any other designs you can think of.

The Christmas season is just hanging by the corner, and this is your sign to collect and craft as soon as you can to gather enough time.
