Front-liners in Quezon City belonging to the A1 priority category began receiving their first doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines on Tuesday.

They were given either CoronaVac or AstraZeneca vaccines provided by the national government.

Among those inoculated were more than 200 personnel of Bahay Aruga, Molave Youth Home, and the Reception and Action Center.

Bahay Aruga looks after abandoned senior citizens, the Molave Youth Home serves as temporary shelter of children in conflict with the law and the Reception and the Action Center is for displaced and homeless individuals.

Novaliches District Hospital healthcare workers, contact tracers and Quezon City Veterinary Inspection Unit front-liners, who often inspects public markets, likewise received their first jabs.

House parents and employees are part of the A1 list, as identified by the Department of Health.

Others also eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccines are the following:
• medical doctors
• nurses
• midwives
• dentists
• medical technologists
• physical, occupational, and respiratory therapists
• radiology technicians
• workers in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, correctional facilities, orphanages, and the like including maintenance, administrative and security personnel
• home care workers such as caregivers, and
• workers in stand-alone clinics and diagnostic laboratories

Those who would register and avail of the Covid-19 vaccine may choose from the nearest vaccination centers in their areas:
District 1 – Quezon City General Hospital
District 2 – Batasan Hills National High School
District 3 – Emilio Aguinaldo Elementary School
District 4 – St. Luke’s Medical Center
District 5 – Kaligayahan Multi-purpose Hall
District 6 – Placido del Mundo Elementary School

The QC Health Department is targeting to inoculate about 6,000 front-liners, including the healthcare workers in public and private clinics, diagnostic laboratories, homes for the aged and rehabilitation centers.

Women belonging to the A1 group but are in their first trimester of pregnancy may be vaccinated after the first trimester while those who received any other types of vaccine in the past two weeks should be rescheduled after completion of the two-week interval, according to the guidelines of the Interim National Immunization Technical Advisory Group.
